Ingredients:
3 teaspoons soy sauce (Xuan Thu brand)
3 teaspoons sugar
1 garlic clove
3 teaspoons oyster sauce
1 tablespoon Chinese BBQ Char Siu seasoning mix (Noh brand)
pork
1 teaspoon water

Directions:
1. Marinade the pork for 3-4 hours in a mix of soy sauce, sugar, Canola oil, the Char Siu seasoning mix, water, and chopped garlic.

2. When you are ready to cook it, put it on a cooking tray covered with aluminum foil and place it in a toaster broiler.
3. Cook it for 15-20 minutes at 350 degrees and then cut it into strips. (Make sure you are watching it as it is cooking though, it does not your full attention.)

(Sorry, but I don't remember exactly what the name of this is)
Serves 4 people

5 green lettuce leaves (I was told it was called "green lettuce" at the market.)
4 cubes fried tofu
4 Shitake mushrooms
1 garlic clove
¼ teaspoon chicken powder
2 tablespoon oyster sauce
pepper
1 teaspoon corn starch
7/12 cup of water
1 teaspoon Canola oil
dried Vermicelli noodles

Directions:
1. Wash the lettuce leaves and then cut into strips.
2. Cut the cubes of tofu into small strips.
3. Wash the Shitake mushrooms and then cut into thin slices.
4. Peel and chop the garlic clove.
5. Soak a handful of dried Vermicelli noodles for 10 minutes.
6. Combine 1/12 cup of water with the corn starch and then set aside.
7. Then, add the garlic and Canola oil into a wok.
8. Next, add the mushrooms, 1/3 cup of water, and the oyster sauce. (Medium heat)
9. After 1 minute, add the tofu, lettuce, noodles, chicken powder, 1 tablespoon oyster sauce, and the corn starch mix. (High heat)
10. Continue to cook for a 1-2 minutes and then top with a sprinkle of pepper.

1 comment:

  1. In the Char Siu recipe, what do you do with the garlic...chopped? What is the name of the soy sauce? What is the name of the BBQ marinade powder? How long do you cook it for? What temperature?

Also, what is the name of the second recipe? What kind of lettuce? Iceberg?

Thanks for writing these down! You're the bestest!
